Position Overview:
The Meat Cutter will work closely with the Meat Department Leader to ensure the availability of high-quality meat products and deliver exceptional customer service to our shoppers. The Meat Cutter is responsible for cutting meat and other products to prepare them for sale and is also responsible for ensuring guests receive the freshest products possible. This position requires a strong commitment to food safety, attention to detail, and a passion for providing fresh and delicious meat products.
Responsibilities:
Meat Handling and Preparation:
Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing incoming meat shipments, ensuring proper storage and adherence to quality standards.
Participate in meat preparation, including cutting, trimming, and packaging, following safety and sanitation guidelines.
Assist in the display and presentation of meat products, ensuring attractive and appealing arrangements.
Customer Service:
Greet and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner, providing product information, answering questions, and fulfilling special requests.
Offer personalized recommendations to customers based on their preferences and cooking needs.
Address customer inquiries and concerns, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Quality Control:
Inspect meat products regularly, removing any expired or spoiled items promptly to maintain freshness and quality.
Follow proper food safety protocols to ensure that all meat products meet health and safety standards.
Collaborate with the Meat Manager to implement quality improvement measures.
Inventory Management:
Assist in monitoring meat inventory levels, notifying the Meat Manager of low stock items, and participating in inventory counts.
Rotate products regularly to ensure proper stock rotation and minimize waste.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation of meat products.
Follow safety guidelines for operating equipment and tools in the meat department.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the Meat Manager and other meat department associates to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
Support other team members and assist in cross-training as needed.
Additional Tasks:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Meat Department Leader to support the overall operation of the meat department and store.
Qualifications:
Previous experience cutting meat or working in a meat department role is highly preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle meat products with care.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
